CARE HOME CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS WITH INTERGENERATIONAL VIRTUAL TEA PARTY

Year-2 students at Thornton Dale Primary School deliver Christmas presents to The Hall

The Hall Residential Care Home, in Thornton-le-Dale, has joined forces with Thornton Dale Church of England Primary School for a virtual Christmas party.

Residents would normally mark the festive period with visits from carol singing school children, but this year they have adapted their plans.

Despite restrictions, students at Thornton Dale Primary were eager to celebrate the holidays with residents at The Hall and organised a game of bingo and a tea party to be held on Zoom.

Nicky Beach, Manager at The Hall, said: “We are all very excited about Christmas this year and we wanted to make sure that December was full of festivities for the residents.

“We would like to thank Thornton Dale Primary School’s year two students for celebrating with us. The tea party and game of bingo were enjoyed by everyone at The Hall.”

David, Resident at The Hall, said: “The Zoom call with the children at Thornton Dale Primary School has really helped to get me in the festive spirit, I really enjoyed carrying on the tea party tradition”

Danielle Collins, Teacher at Thornton-Dale Primary School, said: “As a school, we’re always keen to provide our children with the opportunity to develop links with our local community. The children from Year 2 were very excited to catch up with their friends at The Hall and they can’t wait to see all the residents again.”
