SKILLS FOR CARE SEEKS HOSTS FOR GRADUATE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

Skills for Care is seeking social care and health employers willing to host a graduate within their organisation as part of a programme designed to develop future leaders in the social care and health sectors.

Skills for Care is seeking social care and health employers willing to host a graduate within their organisation as part of a programme designed to develop future leaders in the social care and health sectors.

Since its launch in 2009, Skills for Care’s Graduate Management programme has seen over 120 graduates complete the one-year programme.

The programme has been developed in partnership with the NHS Leadership Academy, and supported by the Department for Health and Social Care, to fast-track highly motivated graduates towards leadership roles within the sector.

All the graduates who make the cut for the programme must complete a rigorous values-based selection process and are then carefully matched with host organisations. During their year with the hosts, all the graduates contribute to the leadership and management thinking and practice.

Skills for Care CEO Sharon Allen said: “The sector will be facing many challenges in the coming years, so having an injection of energy, initiative and fresh thinking from this group of graduates can only help us meet them.

“The Graduate Management programme only works if we have hosts who want to pass on their hard-won experience to talented and ambitious graduates who we know have the core values needed to support people who access care and support services.”

Previous graduates have gone on to develop successful careers in the sector, with 90% of the most recent graduates staying in social care and health, and 75% of them being offered employment by their host.

Applications for organisations to host a graduate are open now until Monday 8th April 2019.  More information about the programme can be found at:
