This support will raise much-needed funds that will make a big difference to the services we provide to stroke survivors in Maidstone and the surrounding area.”

With over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK and 100,000 strokes happening each year, stroke is the fourth single largest cause of death in the UK. Survivors can face serious and life-changing effects, including paralysis, speech and language difficulties, and depression.

Nathan Brown, Community Liaison Manager at Bluebird Care Maidstone, said: "We are delighted to announce The Stroke Association as our Charity of the Year. We look forward to raising as much money as possible throughout the year by getting involved in many events and fundraising initiatives, as well as helping to raise awareness of the fabulous work the charity does.

"As a home care company, we are all very aware of the devastating effects that a stroke can have on an individual and their family. Our Care Assistants support many customers who have suffered from the life-changing effects of a stroke. The Stroke Association does a fantastic job in helping people to rebuild their lives after having a stroke and we look forward to supporting the organisation with its great work during 2018.”
