STRICTLY’S FLAVIA OFFICIALLY OPENS NEW LOUGHBOROUGH CARE HOME

Flavia Cacace joined Woodthorpe Lodge’s General Manager, Preet Hundal, and Registered Care Manager, Tracy Taylor, to mark the new care home as officially open with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Loughborough’s newest care home, Woodthorpe Lodge, welcomed a very glamorous guest through its doors at the weekend, as it celebrated its grand opening with a community event.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace joined Woodthorpe Lodge’s General Manager, Preet Hundal, and Registered Care Manager, Tracy Taylor, to mark the new care home as officially open with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Providing 24-hour residential and dementia care for 66 residents, the state-of-the-art home has also created 50 new jobs for local people.

Guests gathered to watch Flavia declare the home open, and then enjoyed several dance performances from children who attend the local Loughborough Dance School. Residents from neighbouring Ideal Carehomes also attended the event, with the ballroom dance group from Fairway View in Nottingham seizing the opportunity to take to the dance floor with Flavia for a waltz.

Preet Hundal, who has over 20-years’ experience in the care sector, said: “We are absolutely delighted to officially open the doors of Woodthorpe Lodge after many months of hard work preparing the home for our new residents.

“It was an honour to welcome Flavia to Loughborough and show her around – she was genuinely impressed with the facilities and enjoyed meeting our staff team and our guests. I’d also like to thank Loughborough Dance School and the Fairway View Ballroom Dance Group who both did excellent performances for our guests. It has been a fantastic day and I cannot wait to welcome our first residents into their new home in the coming weeks.”

Flavia Cacace commented: “It was an absolute pleasure officially opening Woodthorpe Lodge and meeting all the staff and community members. The facilities are wonderful and I’m sure residents will very much enjoy living there. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the young dancers from Loughborough Dance School and having a waltz with residents. Thanks for having me.”
