Castleoak completes £40m care home programme

Chesham Leys in Chesham was the eighth and final care home to be designed and built by Castleoak for Project Care

Castleoak, the developer and construction partner to the care sector, has completed a £40 million care home reprovisioning programme for Housing Solutions, working in partnership with care operator The Fremantle Trust and Buckinghamshire County Council.

The programme, known as Project Care, was launched to improve the quality of accommodation for older people and people with learning disabilities across Buckinghamshire. This included the reprovision of seven old care homes and the addition of a further care home.

Castleoak was appointed to design and build 600 new bed spaces in eight care homes, each ranging from 60 to 90 beds.

Commenting on the new care homes, Patricia Birchley, cabinet member for Health & Wellbeing at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: “I’m delighted to see the completion of Project Care. Having visited all the care homes in the project, I’ve seen first-hand how working in partnership with Fremantle, Housing Solutions and Castleoak has given our residents such wonderful homes and facilities as well as a first-class service to very vulnerable people.”

Castleoak has a strong reputation for care home reprovisioning. Since 1995 it has built more than 50 new reprovisioned care homes for 11 councils in partnership with 9 care operators across the UK.
