Loveday Kensington has been rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on its first inspection.

The private members’ club for seniors, located in Kensington Square, has been described as “above and beyond” by the Commission, receiving top marks in care, efficiencies, leadership, and safety. Loveday Kensington is one of only a small minority of care homes in England which have managed to achieve an outstanding rating in their first inspection.

As London’s only dementia-specialist luxury care provider, Loveday provide bespoke compassionate care for Members. The 40-suite Kensington property opened in the Spring of 2022, achieving the highest accolade by the health and social care regulator in its first year of operation.

With its heritage in dementia and luxury hospitality, Loveday has been pairing excellence in service with excellence in care since its inception. The Kensington Property, one of Loveday’s three central London locations, was commended by CQC for “providing outstanding person-centred care, whilst in a luxury five-star environment, which included fine dining and first-class hospitality”.

Loveday has an uncompromising approach to care and enriching the lives of its Members. The Kensington team are committed to ensuring each Member receives a bespoke and personal service, however complex their care needs are. The report remarks on “tailored” care, which results in outcomes “consistently better than expected”. With unparalleled access to medical professionals and therapies, from GPs to physiotherapy, CQC recognised the full range of treatments available at the property, and how this improves the Members’ lives.

The Kensington Property was designed with dementia in mind. The principles of luxury design have been expertly blended with the principles of dementia care, ensuring that the building is safe and accessible for Members. The application of dementia-design principles to luxury hospitality design was recognised by CQC.

Providing a private members club service, Loveday Kensington is one of few ‘outstanding’ homes which allows those not in need of residential care to benefit from the world-leading care, facilities, food and culture it provides. With access to the latest research and innovation in dementia treatment, Loveday is constantly improving, integrating cutting-edge technology and therapies to ensure each Member has the best possible quality of life. Sharing its research and recommendations with the broader care community, Loveday is leading the way in improving dementia care for all.

James Cook, Managing Director at Loveday, said: “I am elated at Loveday Kensington’s remarkable achievement in receiving a CQC outstanding rating on its first inspection. It’s exceptionally rare for care homes to achieve this, so it really exemplifies the standards of excellence delivered at every level. This outstanding rating reflects the hard work and passion of our incredible team, who go above and beyond for our Members every day and I am truly appreciative of their unwavering dedication and support. It also motivates us to continue our mission in providing exceptional care and hospitality services to ensure that every day is lived well for every one of our Members.”

Louise Blezzard, General Manager Loveday Kensington, commented: “This outstanding achievement could not have been possible without an outstanding team and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone at Loveday Kensington. I am also grateful to the wider Loveday group for their continued support, training and mentorship which has made this possible.

“The Loveday Way our care model developed at Chelsea Court Place (also rated CQC outstanding) is offered at all Loveday’s homes. It’s an honour to be part of this journey.”
