CAREMARK FRANCHISEE ADDRESSES PM ON CARE SECTOR’S FUTURE

Noorina Boodhooa, Senior Clinical Site Manager at Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel and a franchisee of the Caremark home care network, recently met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock to discuss the future of health and social care.

The meeting took place on 18th December 2019, when the government invited a select group of NHS professionals to 10 Downing Street for afternoon tea.
Noorina, who lives in Barking, facilitates patient flow through Royal London Hospital, including its accident and emergency department and wards. She recently established Caremark (Barnet), which is part of a national network of franchised offices, and will provide home care services to elderly or otherwise vulnerable clients living in the borough.

Noorina explained: “NHS hospitals lack resources, which means there aren’t enough beds.

“Also, finding suitable care placements for patients who could otherwise be discharged can be challenging, unnecessarily extending their stay in hospital and exacerbating this problem.”

When she visited Downing Street, Noorina took the opportunity to talk to Boris Johnson about possible solutions to this national crisis.

She continued: “By allocating more funding to community-based care services, the government could allow patients ready to be discharged from hospital to return home and receive any additional support they need there, freeing up hospital beds and resources. Mr Johnson was very receptive to my ideas and emphasised his commitment to the NHS with the promise of investment and additional nurses.”

Through Caremark (Barnet), Noorina aims to set up a unique after-hours call service to allow patients discharged from hospital late at night to go home straightaway, freeing up hospital resources. She hopes to garner support from local MPs.
