MENU MAKEOVER COMPETITION LAUNCHED

MENU MAKEOVER COMPETITION LAUNCHED

To coincide with Nutrition and Hydration Week (14th-20th June), care providers are being served up a treat with the launch of a competition that will offer a worthy winner a nutritious menu makeover.

Launched by SoupedUp, a cloud-based care catering software, the Menu Makeover competition is inviting care homes across the UK to enter for a chance of having their menus transformed for free – ensuring residents get a nutritional and balanced diet from their meals.

Belinda Adams, CEO and founder of SoupedUp, said: “The idea behind our Menu Makeover competition is to give care providers, who may be struggling with budget and staff or don’t have a dietician, a chance to optimise their nutritional offering. We want catering teams to be empowered with the tools to offer world-class menus that are packed with quality, nutrition and flavour. It shouldn’t and doesn’t have to be complex, and that’s what this competition is all about.”

Running over the next four weeks, the competition encourages care providers to fill out a simple form here, where it asks them to share their current menu and why they need a menu makeover. A judging panel consisting of the experienced SoupedUp team, recent winners of the Best Global Care Catering Solution for 2021, will then review the submissions and pick the top deserving entry.

The winner will receive a varied and nutritional winter menu for their residents utilising SoupedUp’s bespoke software, which includes six different textures of food, five different fluid textures, 100 different allergies, intolerances, and dislikes, and at least five different cultures.

The new menu will be based on recommendations from the Department of Health and Social Care and CQC menu evaluations, offering a variety of choice, nutritional balance, and seasonality. A fresh and diverse menu can help increase occupancy and lower food costs in a care home, while amplifying the outstanding care it provides.

Belinda continued: “Having worked in the social care sector for over 20 years now, I know first-hand that food is the steppingstone of a resident’s day. We believe every meal is an opportunity to enrich a life, make someone’s day, and above all – nourish the soul. We’re excited to review the nominations and make a real difference to people’s lives, so get those submissions in!”
