HC-ONE CARE HOMES CELEBRATE ST PATRICK’S DAY

HC-One Care Homes St Patrick's Day

On Wednesday 17th February, HC-One care homes had great fun marking St Patrick’s Day.

At Ailsa Craig Care Home in Cessnock, Glasgow, staff decorated the home in an abundance of green and gold decorations, including Irish flags and shamrocks. Residents dressed up for the occasion and participated in an arts and crafts session where they created green garlands to display on the windows to bring good luck to everyone living in the home. Residents were given the opportunity to assist the kitchen team in making a special St Patrick’s Day menu with traditional Irish cuisine, such as Irish stew and beverages. During the course of the day, recordings of Riverdance performances were watched by residents who enjoyed tapping their feet along to the music.

Manchester care home Worsley Lodge also celebrated the occasion, with decorations, themed fancy dress and Irish music. Residents also indulged in a piece of cake decorated in the theme of St Patrick’s Day, and enjoyed a tipple to drink.

At Knowsley Manor Care Home in Huyton, Liverpool, residents thoroughly enjoyed St Patrick’s Day and threw a big party at the home. The home was decorated with Irish bunting and a number of residents and colleagues dressed up for the occasion by wearing green. Irish gig music was playing throughout the day which residents danced along to, as well as creating their own music as they played their own musical instruments, including the tambourines.

Jane Furlong, Deputy Home Manager at Knowsley Manor Care Home, stated: “It was lovely to see all our residents enjoying the music. All colleagues were involved in our St Patrick’s Day party. We made some homemade Baileys for them to have a little tipple. It was like a street party!”
