RESIDENTS ENJOY FESTIVE ACTIVITIES AT LEICESTER CARE HOME

Christmas at MHA Foxton Grange

Residents at MHA Foxton Grange care home in Leicester, which specialises in advanced dementia care, have been getting into the festive spirit by enjoying some traditional ‘Christmassy’ activities over the past few weeks.

On 6th December, residents were treated to a performance by singer Kerry Jean, whose songs included all of the classic Christmas favourites from years gone by including Silent Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Not only do activities such as these help those living with dementia to reconnect with their past memories, but the residents love singing and dancing along.

Staff at MHA Foxton Grange have also organised various other goings-on for their residents, including a pantomime performance of Jack and the Beanstalk, and mince pie making – which they’re hoping will remind residents of preparing for previous Christmases with their loved ones.

Claire Wandless, Activities Co-ordinator at MHA Foxton Grange, said: “Every member of our team is passionate about providing our residents with the best quality of care we possibly can – and part of that comes with offering day-to-day variation in their experiences.

“That’s why, as well as tailoring our Christmas activities to suit our residents living with dementia, we also ensure we have lots going on. For example, we have Christingle making, outings to Leicester city centre to see the lights and arts and crafts sessions with the local nursery still to come before Christmas Day even arrives!”
