HC-One’s Fairway View Care Home, in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, recently welcomed a heartwarming visit from Little Glow, turning its cinema room into a sensory haven for babies, parents, and residents to enjoy an unforgettable intergenerational experience.
The Little Glow sensory baby session invited parents and their little ones to explore gentle lights, sounds, and textures, while Fairway View’s residents delighted in cuddling the babies and sharing stories. The event created a unique opportunity for generations to connect, laugh, and relax together in a calm, nurturing environment.
Karen Marsh from Little Glow said: “It was such a privilege to be invited to Fairway View to provide intergenerational sensory sessions for the residents! Heidi and her team really make sure there’s a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy.”
These sessions aren’t just charming – they’re proven to be deeply therapeutic. The shared moments of touch and affection help release oxytocin, known as the ‘bonding hormone’, boosting emotional well-being for both babies and older adults.
Residents enjoyed chatting with parents about their lives, while many were thrilled to share cuddles with the little visitors. The event highlights Fairway View’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences that promote joy, calm, and community spirit.
Heidi Duffy, HC-One’s Fairway View Care Home Lifestyle Manager, said: “We strive to create an inclusive environment at Fairway View, where everyone feels welcome and connected. The Little Glow sessions provide special moments for residents to engage and enjoy time with others. It’s important to us that there’s something meaningful for everyone.”
