CARE STAFF COMPLETE FUNDRAISING CLIMB FOR DEMENTIA-FRIENDLY EQUIPMENT

A group from care village Belong Warrington has raised a whopping £5,000 for life-changing equipment by hiking up England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

The team of seven volunteers took the Wasdale route up the 3,300ft high mountain, all sponsored to generate funds to purchase ‘Vecta Deluxe’ sensory equipment. The equipment provides stimulation to those unable to engage in other activities, turning a room into a therapeutic environment for people receiving end of life care or living with dementia.

Obtaining a Vecta Deluxe has been part of a series of fundraising activities across a number of Belong Villages, including sponsored climbs and long-distance bike challenges.

Rachel Pepperdine, Experience Coordinator at Belong Warrington, commented: “Hiking up Scafell Pike was a rewarding challenge, as we were able to begin raising money to provide our customers with equipment that helps to improve their quality of life. The results from our other villages using such equipment have been really encouraging; therefore, I think we will find this a real boon in our support for those living with dementia.”

The ‘Just Giving’ page, for donations is still live  and the Belong Warrington reception on Loushers Lane in the town can also accept funds.
