A Nottinghamshire care group is bidding a heartfelt farewell to three long-standing team members, who, between them, have dedicated an incredible 65 years of service as they head into retirement.
Church Farm Care, which owns and operates five care homes across Nottinghamshire, is known for its loyal and long-serving team – a rarity in today’s care sector. While the group is sad to say goodbye, it is also taking the opportunity to celebrate the commitment and compassion the trio have brought to residents and colleagues over the years.
Rosemary Yeomans, a Care Assistant at Field House, has been part of the team for 22 years. Marie Meagan, a Kitchen Assistant at Church Farm Cotgrave, has dedicated 19 years of service, while Jacqueline Faulkner, a Domestic Assistant, has worked with the group for an impressive 24 years.
Together, they have witnessed significant changes across the organisation – from its growth from a single home to a group of five, to the evolution of care practices and the introduction of new technologies, with both Rosemary and Jacqueline being a part of the team even before current owners, Lucy and Patrick Atkinson, took over the business.
Rosemary said: “I’m going to miss the residents and my co-workers – they were the reason I stayed for 22 years. I’m so proud of the difference I’ve helped make in people’s lives, no matter how small, but now I’m looking forward to an exciting new chapter; my plan is to travel the world and have lots of adventures. My advice for anyone starting a career in care today would be to just try your best, smile and always have something nice to say.”
Marie said: “Throughout my time at Church Farm Care, I’ve enjoyed meeting lots of new people – many of which are now good friends. I’ve loved working with them all. Working in care is hard at times, but also very satisfying. I’ve seen lots of changes over the years, especially in CQS reading and training. I don’t have any plans for my retirement yet – I’m just going to enjoy the time and see where life takes me.”
Lucy Atkinson, co-owner of Church Farm Care, said: “Spring is a time for new beginnings, and while it’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Marie, Rosemary and Jacqueline, it’s also a moment to celebrate everything they have given to our homes. Having worked alongside them for so many years, it has been a privilege to see the care and dedication they bring to their roles every single day. They have been an integral part of our journey, and while they will be greatly missed, we wish them all the very best for a happy and fulfilling retirement.”
