Twelve inspiring community projects from across the UK have been named as finalists in Caremark’s 2026 Community Care Fund, following more than 1,600 nominations from members of the public.
The nationwide initiative, launched by one of the UK’s largest home care providers, was created to recognise and support grassroots projects that are making a real difference to people’s lives. From groups tackling loneliness and isolation, to projects improving local spaces, supporting vulnerable people, bringing generations together or creating more inclusive community activities, the fund aims to celebrate the people and organisations working hard to strengthen local communities.
Now, the public is being invited to decide which three finalists will each receive a £3,000 grant.
They can vote for their favourite project via Caremark’s Facebook page and voting closes on 1st September 2026.
Launched earlier this year, the £9,000 Community Care Fund invited members of the public, community groups and local not-for-profit organisations to nominate projects they believed deserved support. Any initiative could be considered, provided it delivered a clear benefit to its local community.
The response saw more than 1,600 nominations submitted from across the UK, highlighting the scale of community action taking place in towns, villages and neighbourhoods nationwide.
From those nominations, 12 finalists have now been selected, with one representing each of Caremark’s UK regions. The shortlisted projects will now go forward to a public vote, with the three receiving the most votes each awarded £3,000 to help continue, develop, or expand their work.
David Glover, CEO of Caremark, said: “We launched the Community Care Fund because we know that some of the most important work in the UK happens at a local level, often led by people and groups who give their time, energy and care simply because they want to make life better for others.
“To receive more than 1,600 nominations is extraordinary. It shows just how many projects are out there quietly transforming lives, reducing isolation, creating opportunities and helping people feel part of something.
“At Caremark, our work is rooted in care, connection and helping people live well in the place they call home. The Community Care Fund reflects those same values. It is about recognising the projects that keep communities strong and giving them practical support to do even more
“We now want the public to get involved, learn more about our finalists’ stories and vote for the projects they would most like to see receive funding.”
