MAD HATTER’S TEA PARTY BRINGS WONDERLAND TO RUNCORN

Wonderland came to Runcorn this summer as Simonsfield Care Home hosted a mad hatter’s tea party to raise money for its residents.

Wonderland came to Runcorn this summer as Simonsfield Care Home hosted a mad hatter’s tea party to raise money for its residents.

A trip down the rabbit hole saw appearances from Alice, the Queen of Hearts, Tweedledee and the March Hare, among other favourites from the Lewis Carroll novel.

Elderly residents, staff, families and friends dressed up, hung teapot bunting, shared cakes and muffins and browsed stalls selling jewellery, food and trinkets.

There was something for everyone as guests enjoyed performances from the Runcorn Comets Morris Dancers, singer John Kffyn, and a bouncy castle kept the children entertained.

The summer fete, which is run annually by the home, raised over £550 for the residents’ fund.

Debbie Smith, Home Manager at Simonsfield Care Home, on Boston Avenue, said: “We had a great turnout for the summer fete despite the awful weather.

“We chose a mad hatter’s tea party theme this year, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. There were some fantastic costumes on show and the home looked great with the decorations.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came along and helped raise an amazing sum for the residents’ fund. A special thank you goes to the Runcorn Comets Morris Dancers, who put on a fantastic performance, singer John Kffyn, Delyth Maddock for the mad hatter’s cake, Sharon Evans for helping on the cake stall and staff members Olivia Mercer, Vicky Leadbetter and Debbie Jones for coming in on their day off to help out.”
