CARE HOME WORKER HONOURED AT PRIDE OF RUGBY AWARDS

Dawn Hulley, Activities Coordinator at Willow Tree Nursing Home, was recognised at the Pride of Rugby Awards.

A Rugby care home worker has been honoured with an award recognising the difference she has made to residents’ lives.

Dawn Hulley, Activities Coordinator at Willow Tree Nursing Home, was recognised at the Pride of Rugby Awards, which celebrate the achievements of businesses and the community.

Dawn, who has worked at Willow Tree for four years, won the Customer Care Award for her tireless work raising sponsorship and organising visits for residents to tourist attractions, creating a fitness session for residents and arranging afternoon teas, on top of raising over £860 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Jackie Huckvale, Care Home Manager, said: “Dawn’s colleagues nominated her for this award, which is more than deserved. She works constantly to keep Willow Tree rooted in our community with various events and campaigns.

“Whether it is taking our residents to church throughout the year or getting them involved in providing comfort parcels for the homeless, Dawn makes sure they live an active life and are always in touch with what’s going on.

“Even when she was on holiday recently, Dawn took it upon herself to raise money for residents’ days out by being sponsored to do the longest and highest zip wire in Jamaica."

Dawn’s sponsored adventures have seen her skydive and she is currently preparing to do the gruelling Wolf Run in Warwickshire.

Dawn said: “I’m overjoyed and very honoured to win this award. I work with some wonderful people and we all go the extra mile for our residents.”

The awards saw 12,500 people and businesses nominated for their efforts with a ceremony held at Coombe Abbey Hotel on 11th May.
