Homecare provider Right at Home Central London is the first organisation in the UK to achieve the Pride in Care quality standard.

An initiative of Opening Doors London (ODL), a London-based charity, the Pride in Care quality standard is awarded to organisations across the UK who are assessed as providing quality care and support to LGBT+ people over the age of 50.

The comprehensive accreditation process for the Pride in Care quality standard took into account staff surveys; training; updates to policies and procedures; client reviews; new, inclusive imagery for the company’s website; and meeting with ODL ambassadors to assess that the business met all the required standards.

Right at Home provides care and support to people who wish to remain living independently in the comfort of their own home. It offers a wide range of services for a diverse client base, from companionship, home help and personal care, through to specialist dementia care, 24-hour care and live-in care.

Bryan McMorrine, Managing Director of Right at Home Central London, commented: “I’m incredibly proud that we are the first business to be awarded the Pride in Care quality standard. This is something I have been passionate about since opening over three years ago, so it’s been great working with ODL to achieve this official recognition. Thank you to ODL for providing us with excellent training and support throughout the accreditation process.

“We believe we are setting an example to other care companies across the UK and strongly advocate that support workers need to be fully educated in the unique demographics and care requirements of the LGBT+ community.”

Jim Glennon, Training and Policy Manager at Opening Doors London, said: “Bryan’s whole team were clearly committed from the start to making their services as inclusive as possible of older LGBT+ people, from the representation of difference on their website to robust policies and procedures that explicitly reference LGBT+ inclusion and LGBT+ awareness throughout their induction and training of staff. We are very proud that Right at Home Central London attained the Pride in Care quality mark to such a high standard and look forward to working together with their whole team in the years ahead.”

Following the Pride in Care accreditation, Right at Home Central London was also named Homecare Provider of the Year for London for a second consecutive year at the SME News Greater London Enterprise Awards, reflecting a truly personalised care service for its clients.
