North Shields Carer celebrates qualification

North Shields Carer celebrates qualification

A care home employee in North Shields has gained an important industry qualification. Lisa Fletcher, Activities Co-ordinator at Princes Court, which is based in North Shields and part of Akari Care, has passed the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Activity Provision in Social Care.

Lisa has worked at Princes Court for six years and has been an Activities Co-ordinator for eight months. She completed the qualification at Newcastle College and worked really hard to gain the BTEC, which is a new award and part of the Dementia Champions’ Programme.

Based on Hedley Road, Princes Court is a purpose built care home that provides nursing care for up to 75 elderly residents, some of whom have dementia.

Princes Court aims to maintain lifestyles as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home, with an extensive range of activities which individuals can enjoy and benefit from.

Sandra McConville, Manager at Princes Court, said: “Everyone at Princes Court is really proud of Lisa for achieving her BTEC. She has really excelled in her role and worked extremely hard to gain the new qualification, which will be put to excellent use in her position as Activities Co-ordinator at the home.”
