Lucky Thirteen for the North East & Yorkshire

A new partnership forged by two major housing groups will boost their vital housing care and support services across the North East and North Yorkshire. The Thirteen Group, formed by the merger of Fabrick Housing Group and Vela Group, started business earlier this week.

The move means that the supported housing services previously offered by Tees Valley Housing and Norcare, formerly partners in Fabrick Housing Group, will join to become Thirteen Care and Support, which aims to provide services for all of the landlord partners across the group.

Expertise, resources and costs will be shared, achieving savings and allowing existing services to be enhanced and even more specialist services to be introduced.

Currently services include specialist schemes to support young parents, young people leaving care, veterans, people with drug and alcohol issues, people suffering from domestic violence, ex-offenders and people with mental health issues.

Joining in partnership to create Thirteen Care and Support means customers will not see a difference in their immediate support; it will continue as normal but even more enhanced services could be provided and extra projects could be introduced.

Susan Bickerton, Group Director of Care and Support Designate, said: “Becoming part of Fabrick Housing Group allowed Norcare to invest further in quality and improvement, as well as developing new services to support people in the best way possible.

“It also secured Norcare’s longer term financial sustainability and meant it could spread its expertise further across the region and find new market opportunities.

Between them, the landlord partners in Thirteen Group; Erimus Housing, Housing Hartlepool, Tees Valley Housing and Tristar Homes, own and manage more than 32,000 homes from an area spanning North Tyneside to York.
