HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE RECEIVES 16TH CQC OUTSTANDING RATING

Home Instead Senior Care is delighted to celebrate its sweet 16th CQC Outstanding Rating with news that its Worcester office has received the highest rating possible from the care regulator.

Home Instead Senior Care is delighted to celebrate its sweet 16th CQC Outstanding Rating with news that its Worcester office has received the highest rating possible from the care regulator.

Praised for providing dignified homecare for seniors alongside pioneering dementia care, owner Mark Hamer describes his officially ‘outstanding’ employees as a ‘team of real care professionals’.

Together, they have been firmly on Home Instead’s mission ‘to change the face of ageing’ for older people and those living with dementia across Worcestershire, since the office opened five years ago.

The news makes Home Instead Worcester the first senior homecare provider to receive an Outstanding Rating in the county.

One Worcester client summarised the Home Instead CAREGiver ethos beautifully, telling CQC inspectors: “They are all hand-picked, sociable, caring people who actually listen to you and want to do things to make your life better.”

Owner Mark Hamer said: “This Outstanding rating wouldn’t have been possible without the professionalism of my whole team. They are dedicated to giving our older clients across Worcestershire a dignified standard of care, care that comes straight from the heart.”

Care innovation highlighted in the CQC’s report includes the importance of nutrition and encouraging appetite to the health and wellbeing of older people. The office introduced cooking classes for CAREGivers at their request to help improve culinary skills and nutritional knowledge, sessions dubbed ‘Senior Suppers’.

Mark gained a degree in dementia studies last year from the University of Worcester and has shared knowledge gained with his CAREGivers. The office is introducing iPads, used as a tool to help improve communication and engagement. The team found that displaying photographs or playing favourite music triggered memories and conversation.

Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care at the CQC, added: "The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements. An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”

Martin Jones, Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care, said: “Congratulations to our wonderful Worcester office for bringing home a sweet 16th to our brand. We hold the most Outstanding ratings out of any homecare provider regulated by the CQC, testament to the true strength of our relationship-led model.”
