As the UK felt the force of the ‘Beast from the East’ last week, bringing snow, ice and strong winds, staff and residents at Martins House care home in Stevenage helped paramedics keep warm by offering them hot drinks, bacon sandwiches and a warm reception.
The team at the home in Jessop Road, Pin Green greeted the shivering paramedics as they dropped of a new resident arriving for a stay at Martins House.
Seeing how cold the crew were, staff invited them in for a hot drink and offered them bacon sandwiches and the chance to meet other residents of the home who helped keep their spirits up with a quick chit-chat.
The home’s manager, Julie Churchill, said: “When they came to the door we could see just how cold they were. We did what anyone else would and offered up our hospitality.
“They do such a fantastic job and all of our residents are very thankful for the journey’s they make and care they provide. While our gesture was only small, I hope it helped cheer them up on what was a very wintery day.”
