Redwood Healthcare ushers panto into home
Published on 12/12/2014
Residents at a Malvern care home have been getting into the holiday spirit with a professional pantomime put on as part of their Christmas entertainment.
Legendary tale Puss in Boots was performed for dozens of residents and their families at Welland House Care Centre in Lime Grove, Welland.
Staff, who put together a year-round programme of events for residents, organised the show with Prime Performers, a specialist company that regularly visits care homes to entertain residents.
Welland House Care Centre manager Jeanette Bedford said: “Our residents all enjoyed what was a fantastic show along with their family and friends.
“After the show, our staff laid on a buffet for residents and their families and we held a raffle. All the proceeds have gone to the residents’ fund for the outings and trips we’d like to take them on next year.”
Welland House is registered with the Care Quality Commission for 51 residents and takes private residents as well as those referred by local authorities. All its nurses are fully qualified and they employ a total of 53 staff.
Last year Welland House Care Centre, which is owned by the Redwood Healthcare group, underwent a £25,000 refurbishment which saw the overhaul of 13 bedrooms, new-look communal areas and an investment in specialist technology.
