MiHomecare carers win at GBCA
MiHomecare, a UK leading provider of domiciliary care, was represented by several individuals who, after having been nominated by their peers, were chosen as regional winners at the grand final award ceremony for this year’s Great British Care Awards.

These awards, supported by the Department of Health, recognise and celebrate the outstanding work that is carried out in the UK care sector. The finalists were selected by the judges for their commitment and dedication to the care industry and for the innovation and excellence they have demonstrated within the sector.

The regional winners were as follows:

Sue Wilders, London for the Home Care Worker Award - Sue was nominated for her reliability, flexibility and help in a crisis.

Angela Davey, London for the Home Care Manager Award - Angela received her nomination for her warm and cheerful attitude to care users and her ability to handle difficult situations with patience and tact.

Sylvia Kirkman, London for the Care Trainer Award - Sylvia’s experience as a supervisor, her passion for caring and her personal connection to the cause, caring for a sister living with dementia, brought about her nomination.

Sam Jenner, London for the Home Care Co-ordinator Award - Sam’s nomination came as a result of her twelve years’ dedication to the role, her empathy and compassion, and ability to deliver quality care.

Tanya Hughes, South East for the Care Newcomer Award - Tanya, who arrived a year ago as an apprentice, received her nomination for her positive attitude and aptitude in domiciliary care.

Bridgett Warr, Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Homecare Association Ltd, UKHCA, said: “Whatever the weather and whatever else is happening in the world, every day and in every corner of the country, homecare workers are out and about - often unnoticed - providing the vital care and support that enables so many people to live independently in their own homes and communities.

“The Great British Care Awards play an important role in recognising and celebrating truly outstanding individuals working in homecare, who through their skills, dedication and commitment are making a real difference to people’s lives.”
