Residents celebrate new patio with garden party
Residents at Donwell House care home enjoyed a garden party with members of the local community to celebrate an investment made to the home. The event marked the opening of the home’s new large patio area in the garden, complete with seating area, which was officially launched with a ribbon cutting by resident June Dinsley, who is the home’s longest-standing resident.

The garden party coincided with National Care Home Open Day, which saw thousands of care homes throughout the UK opening their doors to welcome the public, connect residents with their local communities and change perceptions of care homes for good.

Members of the public who attended the celebration were able to take tours of the facilities on site and speak to members of staff about the specialist care on offer at the home.

Donwell House care home, which is based on Wellgarth Road in Donwell, Washington, is part of Bondcare Shaftesbury and provides care for 63 residents, including personal, social and general nursing care for elderly residents and care for individuals with Alzheimers, Dementia and physical illnesses.

There is also a Day Centre on site that provides care for up to 45 clients, including the elderly, physically infirm and individuals requiring dementia care.

Tracey Garland, Manager of Donwell House, said: “The event was fantastic and all the residents and members of the community enjoyed the garden party – luckily we had glorious weather!

“The new patio area really enhances our outside space and is a great area for residents and their visitors to enjoy the garden and socialise in the sunshine.”
