Little Italy in Middleton

A Middleton-based care home brought a touch of Italy to its residents in the form of an entertaining Italian-themed Gala dinner event. Langfield Nursing and Residential Home, which is part of care home operator Bondcare St Andrews, hosted the event for residents and their families and friends.

As part of the celebrations, the home’s favourite artist Melissa serenaded the residents with Italian themed songs, such as the much loved classic ‘That’s Amore’, while they feasted on their Italian cuisine.

The meal included a starter of chicken piadina followed by lasagne or pizza and finished off with tiramisu, all courtesy of the manager of the home, Anita Temperley, who cooked all of the meals from scratch.

Based on Wood Street in Langley, Langfield Care Centre provides nursing and residential care for up to 52 elderly residents.

Anita said: “We are committed to providing our residents with fun-filled activities and events throughout the year, with this Italian-themed lunch being no exception.

“Our Gala dinners are a fantastic way to get all of our residents involved and, with the addition of the performer Melissa, it was an entertaining dinner for both staff and residents. My cookery skills were definitely put to the test, but I'm confident that I provided a meal fit for Gino D’Acampo!”
