Easter arrival at Bondcare home

Easter arrival at Bondcare home
Residents at Brancepeth Court and Lumley Court, which is part of care home operator Bondcare, have welcomed some special companions for the Easter period. The homes recently took delivery of 10 eggs and an incubator and eagerly anticipated the arrival of some baby chicks.

The chicks hatched in the reception lounge shared by Brancepeth Court and Lumley Court surrounded by residents and members of staff. To ensure the chicks hatched safely, a vet was on call to offer advice and assistance.

Based at Willington Care Village on Hall Lane, Brancepeth Court is a 44-bed care unit that provides General Nursing and General Residential care for elderly residents, younger physically disabled, those who have learning disabilities and individuals requiring palliative care.

Lumley Court, which is also situated at Willington Care Village in Willington, provides care for 40 elderly residents with dementia.

Sandra Wilkinson, Manager, said: “It is the second year that we have had chicks at Brancepeth and Lumley Court and the residents have loved having them at the home again.

“Everyone was fascinated seeing the hatching process and eagerly awaited meeting the chicks, which have now fluffed up and our residents enjoy watching. We have a carefully planned programme of events and activities for our residents to enjoy and benefit from and this was an extra special way for us to celebrate the Easter period.”
